'다스름'이란 국악에서 곡을 연주하기 앞서 악기의 상태를 점검하거나 호흡을 고르게 하기 위해 연주하는 짧은 곡을 의미합니다.
단순히 소리를 내는 행위부터 짧은 악구를 연주하기까지, 다양한 장르와 길이로 연주됩니다.
4명의 연주자가 각자의 악기를 자유롭게 연주하며 악기 상태를 점검하기도 하고, 또 함께 소리를 맞추며 조율하기도 합니다. 뒤이어 나올 본곡 연주에 대한 손풀기가 되기도 합니다. 어떤 연주자들은 자신의 기교를 표출하기도 하는 흥미로운 시간입니다.
즉, 다스름은 준비하는 음악, 음악 앞의 음악, 연주를 위한 연주라고 할 수 있습니다.
‘Das-reum’ in Korean music is a short piece of music played before the beginning of main play. The style of Das-reum varies depending on each musical genre and performer. It can be just a sound tuning session or a practice of a short piece. Sometimes four performers tune their sounds together, checking whether their instruments’ sound go harmoniously or not. Thus, Das-reum is a preparation piece, music before music, and a performance for the performance.
